SENSITIVITY & INCLUSION
SENSITIVITY & INCLUSION
At IE University, it’s important to us that all of our team members stay up to speed on all things inclusivity and belonging. To that end, we’ve created a free sensitivity training course for faculty and staff, available here:
We encourage you to complete our tutorial Accessibility, Inclusion, and Belonging: Disabilities and Diversity.
RESOURCES FOR EDUCATORS
INTERNAL COMMUNICATION
How will faculty members know when they have a student with a disability?
- Students will submit a request for accommodations through the Student Portal.
- The Special Educational Needs (SEN) office will review the request, then issue a resolution to the student’s academic office.
- The academic office will then email the relevant professors to notify them of the resolution and how they should make the appropriate accommodations.
- Students will submit a request for accommodations through the Student Portal.
ACCESSIBILITY IN THE SYLLABUS
Our stance on accessibility should be clear from day one. The best way to do so is by:
- Including a statement on accessibility and disability on the syllabus
- Clearly explaining the statement during the in-class syllabus review
- Ensuring that the syllabus itself abides by relevant accessibility standards
- Including a statement on accessibility and disability on the syllabus
MAKING CONTENT ACCESSIBLE
At IE University, we believe it’s key to make content as accessible as possible – visually, linguistically, technically, and beyond.Â
We recommend this thorough guide to creating accessible digital content.
