IE Africa Center participated in the Africa America Institute’s annual conference on the future of higher education, State of Education. This year, the conference focused on shifting paradigms in higher education, and on the role of universities in providing pathways to meaningful employment as well as the role of narratives in determining outcomes.
Dr. Concepción Galdón, IE University’s Social Innovation Director, spoke on a panel entitled “Tipping the Education Scale through Demand-Driven Skills Development.” Professor Galdón’s comments focused on how the role that universities can play in showing how social innovation and entrepreneurship can drive impact and results.
Additionally, Felicia Appenteng, Chair of the IE Africa Center, moderated a panel entitled “African Epistemologies: Histories & Futures through African Agency.” Appenteng’s questions focused on the role of African agency in storytelling.
IE Africa Center hosted a VIP reception on the first night of the conference, which featured remarks by IE alumni Aristide Ahonzo (Founder at Ahonzo Consulting Experts (ACE)) and Olivier Akeya (Head Consumer Distribution at Ecobank Transnational Incorporated).
