Borja Alonso de Linaje

About me

Over the last years, Borja has co-founded and developed various start-ups in the bioenergy field and in the feed/food industry (Camelina Company España and Excel Supplements), failing, pivoting their business models, bringing on board strategic partners, raising private capital as well as leveraging public funds for R&D programmes at both the national and European level. He is currently managing the operations of Camelina Company España, Europe’s flagship company for the production of camelina, a sustainable source of Omega 3 for the food and feed industry.

Prior to this start-up experience, Borja worked for several years in a leading company in the aviation industry, where he gained extensive experience in managing teams in international projects.

Based upon his multi-sectorial and international experience he started his academic venture where he serves as Associate Professor in IE Business School and collaborates in various Executive Development Programs (EDP) for the CLA Financial Times-IE Business School. He has also taught Entrepreneurial Management courses at the European University of Madrid. Borja brings knowledge and experience in start-up in the bioenergy, agriculture, animal feed, biofuels and biomass industry as well as experience in institutional fundraising and launching and managing innovative projects.

Borja has an MBA from IE Business School, and a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), as well as a Master´s in Automotive Engineering at Chalmers University (Goteborg, Sweden).

He is currently the COO of Camelina Company España, Europe’s flagship company for camelina, a sustainable crop to produce biofuel for the aviation industry.

Prior to this start-up experience, Borja worked for five years at Industria de Turbo Propulsores (ITP Group), a leading company in the aviation industry, where he gained extensive experience in managing teams on international projects.

Due to his multi-sectorial and international experience, he is now a mentor for entrepreneurship projects at IE Business School.

His extensive knowledge in bioenergy, agriculture, animal feed, biofuels and pellets, in addition to his experience in public fundraising, launching and managing innovative projects is an asset to our faculty.
