My name is Juan Toro and I’m from Seville, a city with a very rich legal landscape in which the classic and the contemporary come together. Sevillian law firms have a long tradition behind them, but their rapid adaptation to new trends makes the Andalusian capital a very exciting environment in which to practice the profession.
I’m passionate about law, especially commercial law, and I’m convinced that the training I received at IE Law School, coupled with my work ethic, will allow me to grow within the sector. I am a committed, adaptable person who’s always ready to face new challenges. IE Law School as a gateway to commercial law
Juan Toro's legal career began at the University of Seville. He studied for his law degree there and, after graduating with excellent grades, had the opportunity to intern at Efilex Abogados, a law firm specialized in banking civil procedural law and led by his father. This allowed him to immerse himself in the reality of the profession, discover his own capabilities and learn from experienced lawyers.
However, even at university Juan realized that commercial law was the area that most interested him. The business world had caught his attention since he was at school, so he decided to pivot his career and enroll in the Doble Máster en Abogacía y Procura + Asesoría Jurídica de Empresas (LL.M.). He was convinced that the program would provide him with the tools and skills he needed to thrive in the profession.
His father, with whom he shares his name, agreed that IE Law School was the perfect institution for Juan to continue his studies because of

Studying the dual degree allowed him to immerse himself in a global environment, share a classroom with people from different parts of Spain, and the world, and network with alumni as well as classmates and teachers. Juan is always looking for innovative ways to apply technology and data analytics to his work, and he wanted training that went beyond legal knowledge. Fortunately, in the Doble Máster en Abogacía y Procura + Asesoría Jurídica de Empresas (LL.M.), he was able to acquire holistic competences, including the soft skills that are essential for anybody who wants to practice law. This is particularly true in his current role as a commercial lawyer at Garrigues. That’s why he wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the program to any student who has a similar vision and goals.
