Rocío Valdecantos

About me

My name is Rocío Valdecantos and I’m from Seville. I’ve always been interested in the legal field, which is why I chose to study a dual degree in law and business administration. I’m continuing my studies in the legal profession in order to be the best I can be when the time comes for me to enter the job market.

Until then, I’m enjoying the IE Experience and am learning a lot. In the future, I’d like to work in an international law firm where I can continue learning to the fullest.

“The work groups foster teamwork and help us learn more than just working individually.”

A cutting-edge program built for an international career

Seville native Rocío Valdecantos defines herself as a sociable, proactive and observant person. Before starting her journey at IE Law School, she completed a dual bachelor’s program in law and business administration at the University of Seville. After graduating, she had to make the difficult decision of which path to take. Her options included continuing her studies or taking the public exams to work as a tax inspector or as a notary.

In the end, Rocío decided to continue learning and chose the Doble Máster en Abogacía y Procura + Asesoría Jurídica de Empresas (LL.M.) at IE Law School. After considering different options, she opted for the dual degree program at IE Law School for its dynamic character, international focus and worldwide prestige. Plus, she had heard excellent things about it.

Rocío didn’t have to make her decision alone, because she had the support of her family. Her interest in the legal world began when she was very young—her father is a professional in the sector. For him, it was important that his daughter received the best education for the future of the field, and it was clear that IE Law School was the place for her to do just that.

“I supported my daughter in her decision due to the institution’s excellent reputation, the quality of the program and the practical opportunities on offer,” he says.

One of the differentiating factors of this dual master’s program is its innovative teaching methods. The program follows the case study method, and as a professional in the sector, Rocío’s father knows firsthand the importance of receiving up-to-date, hands-on training.

What’s more, the opportunities and professional connections offered by the program at both national and international levels were something highly valued by both father and daughter, and the global perspective has only enriched Rocío’s experience. The chance to participate in networking events, be part of a worldwide alumni network and interact with colleagues from all over the world will be beneficial in her professional development.

Today, Rocío is very happy with her training and with the experience in general. She particularly values the practical focus of the program, as it allows her to learn a lot in a short period of time. Plus, she feels at home with her classmates. “We’re a team and we help each other whenever necessary,” she tells us. Learning to work as a team brings additional benefits; thanks to the collaboration element of the program, students can share and debate different opinions and see things from a perspective they may not otherwise have considered.

Rocío would not hesitate to recommend IE Law School to other students interested in pursuing a master’s degree in law, both for the academic and personal growth offered within the program.
