Dana Clare Redden

Celebrating over a decade in the solar industry, Dana Clare Redden is a passionate solar energy professional dedicated to the development of distributed generation solar globally. She is the founder of Solar Stewards, a social enterprise connecting corporate social responsibility initiatives with historically excluded communities. Dana holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Drexel University as well as an Executive MBA from IE Business School and Brown University. She volunteers on multiple committees dedicated to equitable renewable energy development including The Nature Conservancy and Clean Energy Buyers Alliance Standards Steering Committee, and the VOTE Solar Access and Equity Advisory Committee. She is a co-founder of BOSS: Black Owners of Solar Services, an inaugural American Council of Renewable Energy (ACORE) Accelerate member, and serves on the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) board of directors.

How did IE help you get to where you are today?

The Brown and IE Executive MBA was a great opportunity in my career to learn more about the history of global systems and where business can evolve for more sustainable and equitable success.

In what way is your work impacting the world?

My social enterprise Solar Stewards is aiding in climate justice by connecting private sector renewable energy buyers with projects in historically excluded communities. By expanding markets in this way, we are fostering economic inclusion and delivering critical resources for climate mitigation and an equitable transition to renewable energy.

What drove you to work for a cause that believes in the greater good?

I am from Appalachia, a region of the USA known for coal and natural gas production- and subsequently environmental degradation and economic exclusion. I wanted to work to ensure that current and future generations of global citizens experience a healthy planet, as well as access to the economic opportunities of a renewable energy transition.
