IMBA Students Stand Out in MBAT Tournament

IMBA students attend 31st edition of MBAT tournament in HEC Paris to play sports and engage in networking events.

IE Business School placed 8th overall at the 31st MBAT tournament in HEC Paris campus, with 15 International MBA students earning medals at Europe’s largest gathering that brings together over 1,500 MBA students from top business schools around the world to engage in a three-day sports and networking event.

The medals were awarded to:

“This event has been very beneficial for me both personally and professionally since it was an opportunity to connect with other MBA students in Europe. It widened my professional network as I was able to discuss our different MBA experiences and our aspirations for after the program is done. Since this is a sports event as well, I was also able to widen my social network and connect with students who like the same sports,” said Adel Tewfik, who won a gold medal at this year’s MBAT in the mixed beach volleyball competition.

Gold medalist Michael Robinson, one of the student coordinators who also participated in the mixed beach volleyball competition, said he believes sports are a great way to build soft skills that will help students in their professional life.

“Sports are one of the best ways to develop team building skills and help you grow as a person.”

“Some of the lessons we learned from sports in the MBAT were: prioritizing the team's success over your success–which leads to success, communicating and being decisive in your actions, working productively with teammates that you may personally disagree with, learning to move past mistakes made and reflecting on how to do it better for next time,” Robinson said.
