DEFINE YOUR EXPERIENCE IN (THE PROGRAM) IN ONE WORD. ?
Nifty.
IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU THINK PROGRAM HAS CHANGED YOUR LIFE PROFESSIONALLY AND PERSONALLY?
- Professionally, the dual degree programmed enabled me to follow a new career path, combining my background in business strategy with my passion for creativity and solving complex problems.
- Personally, I grew so much through the challenges of the program and even more so through the incredible people I met during my time in Madrid. I got to know people from so many different cultures, backgrounds, professions. And most importantly, I formed friendship that I am sure will last a lifetime.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY OF YOUR EXPERIENCE?
There are so many. But of them if definitely creating an entire online and social media presence for the local NGO mYmO as our final project in the MVDM. Our team collaborated closely with the founders of the organisation and helped them to greatly expand their reach, from building a website, over interviewing people on the streets, to running a social media campaign for mYmO. I was so lucky to be part of an incredible team with the most diverse skill-set I could imagine. It wasn’t only a lot of fun and sweats and teas along the way, but our hard work also paid off and we won the award for the most successful final project across our year.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO STUDY THIS PROGRAM AT IE?
I was looking for a program that would allow me to build on my strong background and experience in business management & strategy while enabling me to follow my passion for creative work, visual and experience design. So, no need to say that I was really excited when I found the Dual Degree of the Master in Management and the Master in Visual and Digital Media. Also in hindsight, it was the perfect fit for me.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE MAIN CHALLENGES THAT YOU ENCOUNTERED ON YOUR WAY? HOW DID YOUR MASTER PROGRAM AND IE HELP YOU THROUGH THESE CHALLENGES?
Naturally the workload of the program is extremely demanding and the tasks and projects are often challenging. What helped me along the way were the incredible teams I was working in. Did we have to spend many late nights locked into a conference room trying to solve complex problems we had never even heard of before? Yes. Was it painful? Definitely. But did we make it through and did we ace that challenge in the end? Hell, yes! And surprisingly, it was also a lot of fun along the journey – at least looking back.
WHAT IS NETWORKING LIKE IN (THE PROGRAM)?
I think everything I said already just leads up to his: The people at IE are everything. There are so many opportunities to network, to exchange experiences, to get involved, to support great causes, connect with others and simply to have a good time. I’ve had the privilege to meet some of the smartest, most inspiring people of my life during my time at IE. And I wouldn’t exchange that for anything in the world.
