Shuyao (Steven) Zhou

Steven Zhou is a dedic ated scholar with a diverse academic background. Holding a B.Sc. in medicinal chemistry from China Pharmaceutical University and a Master of Management degree from the University of British Columbia, he seamlessly transitioned from conducting award-winning research in biotechnology to exploring the realms of management and organization studies.

Now immersed in the IE doctoral program, Steven explores biotechnology innovation, translation, and commercialization from social and strategic perspectives. His dissertation delves into stakeholder pressure and social movements in health, demonstrating his commitment to understanding the broader societal impact of biotechnological advancements. In his spare time, Steven actively engages with the biotech community, serving as a judge at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition.
