IE Business School Hosts the World's Top Investment Banks to Open Career Opportunities for Students.

Global Investment Banks such as Barclays, Citi, Deutsche Bank, Evercore, Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, PJT Partners, Rothschild & Co, and UBS gathered at the IE University Tower for a flagship training and networking event organized by IE Talent & Careers on September 20th, 2023.

Seventy representatives of the participating banks led the event by gathering at a roundtable and having a discussion focused on the cultures and values prevalent within their companies in the investment sector.

“The main benefit for the companies is the fulfilment of their brand’s values. Additionally, they see how international IE is,” said Rodrigo Hurtado, Associate Director at IE Talent & Careers.

Around 400 Bachelor and Master students had a unique opportunity to meet prestigious investment banks face-to-face, network with representatives and engage in recruitment process discussions.

“Banking employees shared many details regarding the interview process, necessary skills, workload, various positions, language requirements and many other details,” shared Vladimir Monakhov, 3rd-year Bachelor in Business Administration student.

IE Talent & Careers had been long preparing for the event, which marked the start of recruitment opportunities for students in the academic year. The department's goal was to help students develop a deeper understanding of the investment banking industry and facilitate connections with its key players.

“The event provided a golden ticket for students in terms of getting feedback from industry experts that they may not have a chance to meet ever again,” emphasized Hurtado.

For some attendees, networking and its crucial role were a key takeaway from this event, particularly for Master's students who are on the brink of entering the workforce.

“Networking is very important, but what does that mean? It’s not about coming up with good questions to ask, it’s about sustaining an interesting conversation (related to banking or not) so you can develop a connection,” shared Maxime van den Berg, current Master in Finance student.

Nevertheless, the Talent & Careers department remains steadfast in its commitment to preparing students for the lengthy recruitment process, extending well beyond networking. Students were not only encouraged to establish contacts with prominent companies but also to gather information about the skills and experience necessary to become competitive job applicants.

“This event was the first step for students. Now, they can improve their application package with the help of IE Talent and Careers department,” said Hurtado.
