Shining Bright at IE Business School: The Blue Torch Awards

Students at IE Business School always strive for the most ambitious goals and form an active part of the IE community. Within campus classrooms and hallways, no endeavor goes unseen, which is why every student has the chance to earn the prestigious Blue Torch award.

How do students qualify for the award? The Blue Torch is an esteemed distinction that proudly recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance or outstanding citizenship within the IE Business School community. The award highlights their extraordinary journey as they chase the “Next Best You.”

The blue carpet was first rolled out in May 2023, where over 200 Master students across all degrees at IE Business School received the Blue Torch from the 2022-2023 intake.

“It's important for our Business School community to highlight and emphasize academic effort and inspire our students to strive for excellence. The knowledge they gain through their programs will significantly impact their future careers,” said Paula Robles, Director of Program Experience at IE Business School.

On October 5^th, 2023, the second edition of the Blue Torch recognized the success and effort of Business School Master students from the January 2023 intake. Winners gathered for the award ceremony to hear words of congratulations from Dean Lee Newman, Rodrigo Aguirre de Cárcer, Associate Professor, as well as James Woldringh, IMBA 2021 alumnus.

The Blue Torch awards were also presented to 3^rd year bachelor students on October, 17, 2023. Students who were either elected by their classmates as exceptionally dedicated to the success and well-being of their peers or whose cumulative GPA in the first two years places them among the top 10% of their program intake have been granted the prestigious award.

“Remember that with this award, comes a bit of responsibility. We want to plant the seed of your great potential, to put it in a way to create a meaning to you, community, and even our planet,” said Newman.

Following each ceremony, the top-performing students mingled and celebrated their accomplishments amidst the blue-hued cocktail celebration.

At IE Business School, we encourage the highest aspirations of our students in all the degrees to chase “The Next Best You”, increase their impact, and fulfill their purposes. As we applaud this year's recipients, we look forward to witnessing the continued impact they will make on both their personal journeys and the greater world.
