Joseph Pistrui
Professor Pistrui has more than 25 years of managerial experience. Following his time at Bristol-Myers Squibb in the United States, Joseph went on to work with global organizations, including AstraZeneca, BBVA, Bosch, BT, Citigroup, DT, Financial Times, HSBC, Microsoft, Rio Tinto, Royal Dutch Shell, Siemens, Thomson Reuters, Unilever and Vestas.

Joseph has dedicated his professional career to balancing the practice of management with a wide-ranging set of management theories in global organizations.
Much of Joseph’s work focuses on what he calls the “entrepreneurial problem” of growing the top line through innovation-based new business development.
Inspired by his extensive work with global organizations, as well as his thorough understanding of leadership, strategic innovation and design thinking, Joseph launched Nextsensing Initiative. This project seeks to provide insights into leading strategic competitiveness in large organizations by confronting present and future challenges.
Joseph is an entrepreneurial management faculty member and the former dean of executive education at IE Business School in Madrid. He also holds a Visiting Fellowship at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, where he lectures and conducts research on new enterprise formation and innovation at LSE’s department of management.
Joseph has a PhD in philosophy of strategic management and entrepreneurship from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, a Master of Arts in liberal studies from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Ferris State University. Originally from Detroit, Michigan U.S., he has been living and working in Europe since 1993. He is currently living in Madrid, Spain.
