The Global Policy Center is the academic think tank of the IE School of Politics, Economics, and Global Affairs, under the leadership of Dr. Ilke Toygür.

It has been established as a hub for applied research and policy, with programs and initiatives on the Future of Europe, Transatlantic Relations, Global Governance, the Global South(s), and Latin American Politics and Economics.

It aims to foster the school’s applied research footprint, contributing to policy-making while anticipating future trends in global politics and economics. With a forward-looking perspective, it is critically assessing the already existing policies and institutions that are governing global politics and economics while targeting innovation. As a hub, it aims to bring together global thought leaders and key players from around the world to promote original and innovative perspectives on overarching challenges. It is seeking to understand and anticipate the major trends in global politics and economics while providing policy responses to them.

The Center aims to foster the school’s applied research footprint while anticipating future trends in global politics and economics and collecting novel data. With a forward-looking perspective, it aims to critically assess existing policies and institutions that are governing global politics and economics.

With that, the Center aims to contribute to policy-making at the national, European, and international levels when it comes to providing solutions to overarching challenges.

Convening Hub

The Center aims to serve as a convening hub around its research programs to foster debate among scholars, think-tankers and decision-makers. It is the host of various yearly gatherings including the Transatlantic Bridge Conference.

With increasing people-to-people exchanges, the Center aims to open up an inclusive space to foster solutions to future problems.

Executive Education

The Center, as an integral part of the School of Politics, Economics, and Global Affairs (SPEGA), offers executive education programs for public and private professionals. Programs are innovatively tailor-made and introduce the main challenges of global politics and economics. They actively introduce foresight methodology—mostly foresight and backcasting—into their content.
