WHAT IS ELECNOR?
For more than 60 years and with a presence in over 50 countries, Elecnor is one of the most prominent Spanish business groups. A benchmark within the infrastructure, renewable energy, service, and new technology sectors, its main markets are Europe, the Americas, Africa, Australia, and the Middle East.
The Elecnor Foundation: innovation, sustainability, change, and cooperation
The Elecnor Foundation is the main channel of the Group's commitment to the sustainable improvement of society, recognizing the more human side of engineering. Elecnor provides the R&D&I for two main areas of action: the development of social infrastructures and the promotion of training and research as an engine for the development and professional future of today’s youngest members of society. It is about social transformation and improving living conditions, always with sustainability and cooperation as its core.
Commitment to Compliance
As the main tool of Elecnor's corporate responsibility, the Elecnor Foundation fully assumes and promotes all of Elecnor's principles and values, as best represented in its code of ethics and compliance policy.
Ever since its foundation in 1958, Elecnor and each of its employees have been driven by their sense of vocation and have wholeheartedly committed themselves to carrying out their activities with the highest ethical standards and in accordance with the laws in force in the territories and countries in which they operate. They also strive to fulfill and defend human and labor rights; to act with diligence, professionalism, integrity, and quality; to care for the environment; to work towards preventing occupational hazards and fighting corruption; and to strengthen social responsibility.
Because Elecnor does not view this commitment as optional, it applies the principle of zero tolerance to bad practices in matters of ethics and integrity and expects from its employees and the people who have dealings with it to conduct themselves in line with the principles of the aforementioned code of ethics and compliance policy. Elecnor's compliance system is framed in the aforementioned principles and values and in the continuous improvement of its management practices and procedures, with the aim of strengthening its corporate governance.
As a sign of this vocation for continuous improvement and for being a benchmark both nationally and internationally in the field of compliance, in January 2018 Elecnor became the first Spanish company in its sector to obtain certification under the UNE-ISO 37001 “anti-bribery management systems” standard, the first and most demanding international certifiable standard to deal with management systems for compliance and the fight against corruption by establishing a culture of integrity, transparency and compliance. In addition, in February 2019 the company also obtained certification of its compliance system according to UNE 19601 “Criminal compliance management systems”, which aims to prevent crimes and reduce criminal risk in organizations.
An observatory for a new culture
The IE-Elecnor Observatory responds to Elecnor's commitment to continue moving toward being a reference in the field of compliance and, in particular, to contributing—with its experience and IE’s resources—to the development of knowledge concerning the implementation of a compliance culture in organizations and its sustainability over time.
