Cubico Sustainable Investments and Celsia Colombia announce scholarship for IE University Colombian students | IE Foundation

London/Madrid, 12 November 2020: Cubico Sustainable Investments (Cubico) and Celsia Colombia (Celsia) have jointly launched a scholarship for colombian undergraduate students enrolled at IE University in Spain.

The Young Talented Leaders Scholarship is sponsored by Cubico and Celsia and benefits from the support of IE Foundation, a non-profit organisation which works towards giving access to the best talent and enhancing the university’s impact through collaboration with strategic partners.

The scholarship will cover all training and education costs, including tuition fees, accommodation, academic materials and travel during a four-year degree programme at IE University.

It is designed to support academically gifted Colombian students, who have shown great commitment to their education and a strong desire to achieve personal growth through experiencing different perspectives.

Colombia is one of Cubico’s main target countries for growth in Latin America, having created a joint venture with Celsia last year to develop, build and operate more than 400 MW of solar projects in the country.

Recently Cubico and Celsia also jointly formed Caoba, a transmission line platform, to invest in the grid infrastructure that will help to develop the clean energy system in Colombia.

Francisco Moya, Head of Brazil and Latam at Cubico, said: “We take great pride in supporting our local communities by creating a number of initiatives to address the pressing environmental and social needs across the countries in which we operate. We are really pleased to have partnered with Celsia and IE University to help these Colombian students make their dreams come true.”

“This scholarship to study at IE University is a real development opportunity for young Colombians who want to pursue high-level studies and get ahead. Celsia and Cubico come together thanks to the fact that they share values, to promote these initiatives that will change the lives of these Colombian students. The scholarships are very comprehensive and will allow them to develop their talent in a first-rate educational institution said Ricardo Sierra, CEO of Celsia.

“In today’s complex and uncertain global environment, now more than ever we celebrate this new scholarship at IE Foundation, fruit of Cubico and Celsia’s shared drive to empower the best talent from Colombia and allow them to fulfill their academic aspirations at IE University and become future global leaders,” commented Geoffroy Gérard, Managing Director at IE Foundation.
