IE University partners with Ukrainian Global University and provides €1 million in scholarships for students from Ukraine
The agreement will help channel the #IEforUkraine Scholarship Fund to the best talent of Ukraine and support them in accessing quality education to rebuild Ukraine after the war.
IE Foundation, IE University, and Kyiv School of Economics have signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate in the framework of the Ukrainian Global University (UGU). It channels the best study opportunities in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at IE University to the top talent from Ukraine. The partnership is a response to the devastating effects of Russia’s war against Ukraine and is aimed to support Ukrainian students with access to higher education to transform and rebuild their country after the war.
Through this partnership with UGU, IE Foundation and IE University will offer the best talent from Ukraine access to the #IEforUkraine Scholarship Fund with an initial installment of €1 million to cover up to 100% of tuition fees for both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and/or room and board for talented students affected by the war in Ukraine. IE University has joined forces with 53 institutions from 17 countries that are already providing Ukrainians with more than 785 opportunities for education and research.
“Our goal is to build long and sustainable collaborations with leading universities across the globe. We believe that investing in education and science is crucial during the war. We are very honored to have this partnership with the IE Foundation and IE University. We know that our students will receive an excellent education there and then will return to Ukraine to rebuild the country, while making our cultures, industries, and communities closer. We are grateful to IE for their leadership and vision during these difficult and challenging times,” mentioned Tymofii Brik, rector of KSE University and member of the executive team at Ukrainian Global University.
“We want to support the people of Ukraine and its talent. By collaborating with UGU we ensure that our scholarships initiative #IEforUkraine contributes to the personal and professional development of Ukraine’s talent, promoting the incorporation of these young people into a democratic and more sustainable peaceful world and helping them to rebuild the country.”
Gonzalo Garland, Vice President of IE University’s IE Foundation
UGU is a non-profit initiative aiming to connect Ukrainian scholars, students, fellows, and scientists with educational institutions worldwide to provide them with access to the newly offered scholarships and programs. It was launched by a consortium of leading Ukrainian educational institutions and civil society organizations: Kyiv School of Economics, Ukraine Global Scholars, Professional Government Association of Ukraine, SET University, and Ukrainian Emerging Leaders Program. UGU has been endorsed by the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The initiative aims to provide talented Ukrainians affected by the war with access to international universities willing to support their studies and empower them to contribute to rebuilding Ukraine after their graduation and come back home.
