Dean of IE Summer School

Erik Schlie is the Dean of IE Summer School and a long-time Professor of Practice in Marketing and General Management at IE University and IE Business School. His previous IE leadership roles include tenures as Vice President at IE University and Associate Dean of IE Business School’s flagship MBA Program. 

Erik has established a long track record as a visionary innovator and pioneer in education and management. He is also an accomplished “academic entrepreneur” known for spearheading successful educational initiatives worldwide.  

On the launch of IE Summer School, Erik commented: “As we embark on this new entrepreneurial mission to create impact for IE University at large, our aim is to become a truly interdisciplinary School to showcase the ‘best of IE’ in innovative learning capsules.” 

Before his tenure at IE University, Erik helped build a new international business school from scratch as the first faculty member at ESMT Berlin, now ranked among Europe’s top ten. His time as a research associate at The World Bank paved the way for a thriving career in academia.  

Erik is a global citizen with a German passport who has been residing in Madrid, Spain for more than 15 years now.
