In a recent interview at IE campus in Segovia, Professor Dae-Jin Lee from IE Research Datalab shared an insightful analysis of the European Union’s AI legislation, the first of its kind in the world. Initiated in 2021, this legislation focuses on key aspects such as algorithmic transparency, safety, and citizen protection. Professor Lee emphasized the importance of these elements in shaping the regulation, which includes stringent measures like restrictions on facial recognition and emotion tracking in public spaces.
Dae-Jin also recognized the rapid evolution of AI, which presents a significant challenge for legal frameworks to keep pace. “The law must be agile enough to adapt to new technologies that are emerging and will continue to emerge in the coming months,” he commented.
