Professor Hurtado is Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of the Asset Management Area of Banco Popular Group. He has under his responsibility the management of investment funds and pension plans with total assets under management (AUM) in excess of 11,000 million euros.
Professor Hurtado has been involved as an Adjunct Professor for IE for the last five years, teaching finance in several programs (master’s degrees and executive education).
Hurtado´s research is focused on finance, asset management, private banking and alternative investments. His doctoral thesis was about hedge funds and financial crises. Prof. Hurtado is co-author of a book about alternative investments (Inversiones Alternativas: otras formas de gestionar la rentabilidad), commended by Rodrigo Rato, former managing director of the IMF as “timely, excellent, practical work”. Prof. Hurtado has published two cases for IE (Grupo Meridional Fondo de Pensiones and The battle for Cortefiel).
