Architecture: Taking a Holistic View

The need to design new spaces and modernize existing ones, to adapt them to society’s requirements, calls for a multidisciplinary vision and training for architects. Martha Thorne, Dean of the IE School of Architecture and Design, talks to Kai-Uwe Bergmann, Partner at BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), about the challenges of providing the interdisciplinary education that the architects of the future will need; this means not only identifying human needs but also developing other disciplines that will be needed to tackle new global challenges, such as the issue of sustainability.
