The Lifecycle of an Executive
An executive’s career can be divided into several stages. The first phase involves building up relations and talent. In the second phase, executives make use of all the accumulated experience and establish the strengths and skills that will be key to their personal and professional success. The third and final stage is becoming ever more significant, to the point where it is now the executive’s “second life career”, as Santiago Íñiguez, Executive President of IE University, explains in this video. Íñiguez describes the main features of each stage and advocates “reinventing” yourself professionally at the most senior stage, drawing on all the training, experience and networking you have acquired over the years.
