Huiyu Wang
I’m originally from China and have studied law in China, the US, and now in Spain. I would describe myself as a curious person, which is why I decided to study the Master of Laws (LL.M.) at IE University. As part of my program, I am specializing in International Dispute Resolution and have also attended the Legal Immersion Experience in Paris.
"The Master of Laws (LL.M.) has changed me to push me further in pursuit of my career."
From China to IE University to pursue a goal
Huiyu’s passion for law began when she took some basic law classes during her undergraduate degree in English language and literature. Ever since, she’s been inspired to learn about law. Now, looking to the future, Huiyu is planning to pursue a career as a lawyer in international arbitration, combining everything she has learned so far in her program and independent study.
Having started exploring the field of law, Huiyu is very grateful for all the experiences she has had so far at IE University to take her learning a step further and give her a unique perspective on international law. Thanks to this, Huiyu decided to specialize in international dispute resolution as part of her Master of Laws (LL.M.).
Since starting her Master of Laws (LL.M.) at IE University, Huiyu is looking forward to an opportunity to secure an internship at a law firm after graduation to gain more experience and put her new skills and knowledge into practice. In this role, she plans to bring all of her insights from her previous work experience to better understand law and make the most of the opportunity.
Huiyu also elected to participate in the Legal Immersion Experience in Paris to gain a broader understanding of international commercial arbitration and gain first-hand insights. Along with other students on the international dispute resolution specialization track, Huiyu visited the International Court of Arbitrations of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris as part of the experience. This was an excellent opportunity for Huiyu to expand her international network and get involved in practical workshops to boost her employability. And she certainly made the most of the chance, saying she learned a lot from every speaker and that there were “too many highlights to mention!”
Huiyu was awarded the CSC-IE Scholarship in Global Governance and Sustainable Development, an agreement between IE University and the China Scholarship Council. So far, she would describe her IE University experience as intense. She finds it to be a demanding program but very rewarding, especially when she gets to put her learnings into practice. She’s had an amazing experience so far and is looking forward to what the next semester–and beyond–will bring.
Looking back on the program so far, Huiyu says her Master of Laws (LL.M.) has changed her by pushing her further in the pursuit of her dream career and in her journey toward international arbitration.
