About me

My name is Natalia Robles, and I’m from Mexico City. Before attending IE, I earned my Bachelor’s in Law from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. I have 11 years of working experience in the legal sector. While I enjoy my job very much, I also like to exercise, play soccer and go out with my friends. Currently, I’m a senior associate at a law firm where I work with approximately 40 clients and their businesses. Asides from corporate law, which is my core type of law, I have been studying and working closely with Fintech and Legaltech, which have been complementing my knowledge and experience in a very fulfilling way.

"The wide range of insights I have gained into other legal systems and processes has helped me provide better advice to my clients, guiding them into making better decisions, while simultaneously allowing me to serve as a cultural bridge between people from different backgrounds."

Why did you decide to study an LL.M. in International Business Law?

I decided to study an LL.M. in International Business Law because I wanted to deepen my knowledge of international law and experience living abroad. I chose IE because of its reputation as a quality institution and its focus on diversity. The overall experience was amazing, but the best part was the networking opportunities with my classmates and professors—I now say that I have connected with brilliant people from every continent!

What professional and personal experiences from IE Law School stands out?

Personally, the biggest highlight has been the multicultural group of friends I have made. It was amazing to meet people from different countries and backgrounds. Professionally, the wide range of insights I have gained into other legal systems and processes has helped me provide better advice to my clients, guiding them into making better decisions, while simultaneously allowing me to serve as a cultural bridge between people from different backgrounds.

What skills and knowledge did you acquire in the LL.M. program?

Thanks to this program, I have grown as a person. I am now more open to people from other cultures and backgrounds. What’s more, I’ve learned to respect everyone’s opinions and to be more aware of cultural misunderstandings. All of these skills work nicely to complement the useful legal knowledge regarding international transactions that I have acquired in this LL.M.

How did the program help you access the job market?

With an enhanced knowledge of corporate and international tax law, alongside profound cultural insights, I have become a greater asset within the job market and in my client interactions each day.

What do you think are the most relevant legal skills for future lawyers to have?

Future lawyers need to be open to new technologies. I believe that they should learn to use them in order to optimize legal counseling services and to streamline, our sometimes, tedious processes.
