Víctor Martínez-Simancas Aza

Victor Martinez-Simancas is a Senior Counsel in the Legal Services of the Iberdrola Group, a global energy leader and one of the largest electricity companies in the world. Currently, he assists the Spanish Networks Business of Iberdrola in a wide range of legal matters. Sustainability, transparency, ethics, and added value creation are the key drivers of his daily practice. 

In relation to his professional experience as an attorney, Victor started his professional career at Garrigues, where he was an associate in the Corporate and Finance Department, advising corporations in M&A transactions and in corporate governance. He also worked as an international associate of the Transactional & Energy Group of Baker McKenzie in its Chicago office, USA. Prior to joining the Iberdrola Group, he was a Manager of the International Business Reorganizations Team of PwC Legal. 

In relation to his professional experience as a Law professor, before joining IE Law School, Victor taught at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid as an adjunct professor of Corporate and Commercial Law. 

Victor has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (J.D. equivalent) from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a Master’s Degree in Law Practice from Universidad Nebrija, and an LL.M. from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He has also completed several legal seminars and courses such as: Law Seminar for International Students from Yale University (2013); Business Law and International Law from New York University (NYU) (2014); and International Practice of Business Law from Centro de Estudios Garrigues (2017).
