“These awards attract talent and drive all of us working at IE Law School to continuously focus on innovation, one of the pillars of this Chair,” emphasized Soledad Atienza.

This year’s winners were Professor Verónica Ruiz from Edinburgh Law School and Dr. Antonia Sommerfeld, from the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, for their paper titled “Circular Fashion and Legal Design: Weaving Circular Economy Threads into International Contracts.”

Additionally, the jury awarded an honorable mention to Sara Quintero for her work, “Proposal for the Design of a Sustainable Smart Platform and the Creation of a Research and Technology Center for Sustainable Fashion.”

“Ethical fashion is a design philosophy that seeks to create a sustainable system that is not only environmentally but also socially responsible, with the consumer at its center. Today’s consumers are increasingly aware and responsible, not only regarding circularity but also with respect to values like traceability and transparency, ensured through auditing and compliance,” noted Pilar Galeote.
