Presentation of IE University's law programs at the headquarters of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo in Barcelona
On November 17, IE University presented their dual degree master’s in law programs at the Gómez-Acebo & Pombo offices in Barcelona.
IE Law School held an event in Barcelona to present their dual degree master’s in law programs in collaboration with Gómez-Acebo & Pombo Abogados, who welcomed attendees at their offices on Avinguda Diagonal.
Participants were able to learn firsthand about the specializations these 15-month dual degree master’s programs offer.
Paula Heras, senior manager of global recruitment at IE University, presented the study plans of the four dual degree master’s in law programs: Corporate Tax Advisory, Business Legal Advisory, Bilingual Business Legal Advisory, and Entrepreneurship & Technology. She explained how “IE Law School’s dual degree master’s programs help students understand law from a very practical perspective, thanks to an approach based on real cases.” Paula also spoke about the opportunities that IE Law School offers its students to get in touch with important law firms, consultants and companies.
Next, Julián Montaño, vice dean of IE Law School, dove into the practical learning methodology incorporated into these programs. He emphasized the importance of acquiring multidisciplinary training as a key to professional success.
Cristina Santos Oliete, director of Human Resources at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo Abogados, also attended the event. The company has offices in Spain, Portugal, Brussels, London and New York. Cristina went on to highlight their close collaboration with IE Law School: “We are in constant contact with IE Talent & Careers, which helps students prepare themselves as candidates.” As director of Human Resources, she also revealed what the firm is looking for in terms of candidate profiles. “We are a company with a very close working environment and, therefore, we have a detailed selection process. We hire IE University dual degree master’s students with the intention of having them remain a part of our team. We appreciate when candidates know our company and are clear about why they want to work for Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.”
Among the attendees, Elena showed interest in these programs and added:
“I found this event very interesting, especially the explanation of the study plan of the dual degree master’s in law programs. The opportunity to work for a law firm like Gómez-Acebo & Pombo demonstrates the quality and value of the training that IE University can provide me for my future.”
María Dolores said that “Attending this event has allowed me to learn about the classes and the dynamics of the dual degree master’s in law programs. I think this is something that helps students decide. It seems to me to be very practical; an approach that you can’t find at any other university.”
The event ended with a cocktail party, in which attendees had the opportunity to discuss the future of the profession with members of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo and specialists from IE Law School programs.
