James W. Jones. Senior Fellow, Center for the Study of the Legal Profession at the Georgetown University Law Center.
The prestigious expert in legal markets visited the LawAhead Center on the Legal Profession of IE University’s Law School to present the conclusions of his latest publication “Report on the State of the Legal Market”.
The presented report meticulously analyzes the situation of the legal market in the United States based on data from Thomson Reuters Financial Insights and their quarterly statistics on the performance of legal firms. According to Jones, the transformative changes occurring in the legal market can only be understood by closely examining what has happened over the last fifteen years. These changes originated from the 2007-2008 financial crisis, when some trends that had been dormant until then began to solidify. The report tracks the evolution of the legal market from that initial turbulent period through a subsequent phase of relative stability and up to the volatility of the global pandemic.
