Hey! This is Rui writing you from Madrid, a portuguese mechanical engineer specialized in automation and an enthusiast of industrial innovation. Within this 4rd industrial revolution we are going through, automation is just the starting point to the digital transformation and there are no doubts that artificial intelligence is taking the lead in this field. As so, in a technological world experiencing an exponential growing we need to be aware as individuals that learning needs to be a constant in our lives and that keeping updated is mandatory as the fuel to everyone’s careers. And what is more in vogue nowadays than data science? The more I see the market’s demand, the more I am sure. As we use to say in my current company – BA Glass, coding, machine learning and BI tools will soon become the new ‘Excel skills’ and this is, in a nutshell, the reason why I am taking part in this amazing journey: the Data Science Bootcamp.

It has passed almost two months since the first caña with my classmates and there is so many “data collected” already that it is difficult to make you the summary() in just a few words. Even so, I can easily share with you guys that the main points I’ll take to my professional path are the networking with brilliant teachers, a class with an incredible group vibe, the unique Madrid’s lifestyle and, of course, the technical skills that took me here in the first place. In fact, the program has exceeded my expectations regarding the technical learning, given that we are now dealing with a real case scenario in a group project for a real company and that our coding skills are actually matching the challenge. Me and my colleagues are currently working with an edge technology called ‘LIDAR’, a laser 3D scanning that generates cloud points datasets where we need to build a predictive model to classify objects in it. As we are used to be challenged in a daily basis during the entire bootcamp, this peculiar project is seen by every member of the group as a key learning opportunity, where we are all full committed to exceed the client’s expectation. That is just the bootcamp’s way: always go beyond the challenge.
