Program content
WEEK 1 - WELCOME TO THE PROGRAM
In this week, participants will meet the professor and become familiarized with the main objectives of the program, the program structure, and the assignments they will be working on during the rest of the program. A welcome networking session will be hosted, giving participants the opportunity to forge meaningful connections with their peers.
WEEK 2 - UNDERSTANDING INNOVATION MANAGEMENT
Define innovation types, understand how organizations manage innovation through their structures and frameworks, and reflect on the concept of "good" and/or "universal" design. First, we will define innovation and its multiple types and manifestations. Then, we will explore the Innovation Mindset before delving into the complexities of innovation design.
After this week, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the main misconceptions about innovation
- Delineate the types of innovation and use cases for each
- Discuss qualities related to the innovator mindset
- Apply the logic of design choices and frameworks to understand how organizations structure their services and products
- Apply the logic of “statusphere” as it applies to design solutions for consumer problems
During week two of the program, a live session with the program Learning Facilitator will be hosted, an opportunity to connect with an industry expert who will be guiding you through your learning journey.
WEEK 3 - IMPLEMENTING INNOVATION IN ENTERPRISES
Discover how to frame innovation through clear purpose, learn how to search for new ideas, and develop strategies to generate and select ideas. First, we will discuss the importance of a clear and defined purpose, then explore process of identifying exactly what are the problems needed to be solved in a given circumstance, and finally we will discuss idea generation and selection.
After this week, participants will be able to:
- Explain how purpose (or the “why”) is used to ideate innovative ideas and solutinos
- Apply the 3-step process for determining massive transformative purpose to a business problem and solution
- Align innovation strategies to business goals using the taxonomy of innovation
- Apply channels of insight and brainstorming techniques to identify problems and select possible problems
During week three of the program, an interactive live session with the program faculty will be hosted, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with the creator of the program, dive deeper into concepts seen in the learning materials, and discuss practical applications.
WEEK 4 - INNOVATING FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
Learn how to implement problem-solving spaces, manage innovative teams, compare innovation strategies, and plan for continuous change. We will begin by highlighting the importance of people, culture, and organizations before moving on to innovation strategies, then finally uncovering the keys to managing disruption and change.
After this week, participants will be able to:
- Strategize how to build successful cross-functional teams for implementing innovative solutions to business problems
- Ideate and evaluate business solutions based on degree of openness of innovation
- Plan for sustainability and success of innovation at an organizational level in the face of disruptive technology
At the end of week four, participants are given the opportunity to continue networking in a live session, discussing key takeaways from the program and looking forward collectively to how they will implement these takeaways in their individual business contexts.
