Academic Directors of IE's Strategic Project Management

Antonio is known as the world’s leading champion of project management and strategy implementation. Alongside his full-time role at GSK, where he is currently Director of the Sustainability Transformation Program—and previously Director of their global Project Management Office—he is also the former Chair of the Project Management Institute. Born in Spain and having lived around the world, he was previously a Senior Executive for Fortis Bank, responsible for their integration with BNP Paribas and ABN AMRO. He received a Global Award from Thinkers50 for Ideas into Practice, and his books include The Focused Organisation and Harvard’s Project Management Handbook.

ANTONIO NIETO-RODRÍGUEZ

Juan Manuel Domínguez Ortega, Managing Partner at SD Group, specializes in guiding business managers through strategy, planning and execution. With over two decades of experience, Juan Manuel has participated in the development and implementation of business strategies across diverse sectors since 2002.

He serves as President of APGP (Association of Professional Project Managers), advocating for the recognition of project management's value. Additionally, he contributes to national and international Project Management committees, including UNE and ISO, playing a pivotal role in shaping industry standards. He was accredited as a national expert for ISO International 21500 WG10, the overarching standard for project management, and other duties in ISO as national expert. He has been linked to PM2, the project management methodology of the European Commission, from its public release and participated in the official translation of the guide into Spanish. He frequently participates in the translation of other standards and methodologies into Spanish.

Beyond his professional commitments, Juan Manuel serves as a Board Member of the CIP Institute, facilitating knowledge exchange in risk and crisis management. He earned his MBA from IE Business School and holds accreditations including Project Management Professional (PMP®), PM2 Advanced Certificate, Lead Auditor in Business Continuity Management (ISO 22301), and EFQM Evaluator.
