Pablo Blanco Burón

About me

I have over 20 years of management experience, both in Spanish and international companies. I have been chief financial officer and held positions of responsibility in accounting and tax management, planning, control, and financial management departments. I consider myself to be a person with a great capacity for analysis and organization, with a global view of the company, who is results-oriented, but above all I consider myself to be a fighter. I have had to overcome many health and professional problems, but my time at IE has inspired me to get my ambition back and forge ahead.

"Although my expectations were high, the programme far exceeded them."

Pablo Blanco Burón

Pablo has been working in management for over 20 years at both Spanish and international companies, in the areas of accounting, planning, and financial management, but that didn’t stop him from continuing his education at IE. After finishing the program, he feels prepared to take on a leadership role again and apply everything he’s learned.

Why did you decide to further your education at IE?

When I thought about doing the Online Corporate Finance Program, I already had an Executive MBA and 20 years of experience in management roles at different companies. However, I wanted to broaden my vision of corporate finance, because I thought that there was still more content to learn. Although I had high expectations, the program far surpassed them.

Do you think that your time at IE has changed your focus in your career?

It awoke my interest in returning to a CFO position, a role that I do not currently hold but held previously. The training inspired me and has awoken my ambition to return to an executive management position.

What is your current professional status?

I am currently an accounting, tax, and employment advisor, an area where there’s always been lots of opportunities, but after doing the program, I’d like to take on a management role again.

What is the most valuable lesson you learned during the program?

The program taught me to master the famous cash flow statement and the value that has for companies. In general, I learned a lot from the professors in the program, who are outstanding professionals and experts with a lot of knowledge of corporate finance.

Do you have any inspiring stories you’d like to share with your classmates?

I’ve had to overcome many health and professional problems, but if I’ve learned one thing it’s that you need to keep fighting for what you want, no matter what happens.
