Speaker Bio: Suprateek Sarker has an Honorary Professorship of Business Information Systems at the University of Sydney Business School, Australia, and was formerly the Philip Kays Distinguished Professor of Information Systems at Washington State University and the Microsoft Chair of Information Systems at the Copenhagen Business School. As a prominent researcher, his work, primarily qualitative or mixed-methods, has been published in prestigious journals and funded by institutions like the National Science Foundation (USA). He serves on editorial boards and has held visiting professorships at various international universities. Professor Sarker is a co-recipient of the Stafford Beer Medal and has earned teaching awards at Washington State University. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Jyväskylä (Finland) and was named a Fellow of the Association for Information Systems (AIS). Copenhagen Business School also conferred an honorary doctorate on him. In 2021, he was elected President-Elect of the Association for Information Systems (AIS). With extensive experience as a keynote speaker, Professor Sarker has delivered talks at prominent conferences and universities worldwide. His expertise includes data management, business intelligence, systems analysis, digital organization transformation, and qualitative research approaches.

Michael Barrett

Speaker Bio: Michael Barrett is Vice Dean of Strategy and University Engagement and Professor of Information Systems & Innovation Studies at Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS).  He is also Distinguished Visiting Professor of Innovation at the Stockholm School of Economics. Michael has served as Director (Associate Dean) of Research, REF2021 Chair for Business and Management, Director (Associate Dean) of Programs, and Head of the Organization Theory & Information Systems (OTIS) subject group at CJBS. As a qualitative researcher, he primarily uses longitudinal in-depth case studies in his work.  A primary focus of his current research is on digital innovation and transformation in a healthcare context and examines how emerging digital technologies are enabling new models of care. Michael is also passionate about the role of mobile money for development and has investigated the development and use of mobile payment services in enabling money transfer, clean energy, and climate action.  In 2016, Michael was recognized as a Distinguished Scholar by the OCIS (now Communication, Digital Technology, and Organization) Division of the Academy of Management.  He is founder and Academic Director of Cambridge Digital Innovation, Hughes Hall and CJBS at the University of Cambridge.

Tawfik Jelassi

Dr. Tawfik Jelassi assumed the role of UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information on July 1, 2021. In this capacity, he oversees UNESCO’s initiatives to foster inclusive knowledge societies, drive digital transformation, shape ICT’s role in education, and promote freedom of expression. Dr. Jelassi earned his Ph.D. in Information Systems from New York University (USA) and holds postgraduate diplomas from the University of Paris Dauphine (France). He currently serves as a full-time professor at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). Before joining IMD, Dr. Jelassi held the position of Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Information & Communication Technologies in Tunisia’s transition-to-democracy Government from 2014 to 2015. He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ooredoo Tunisia, the country’s leading mobile telecoms operator. From 2000 to 2013, Dr. Jelassi was a Professor and Dean of the Business School at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris. Previously, he was the Coordinator of the Technology Management Department and an Associate Professor at INSEAD. His research contributions have been published in esteemed academic journals such as MIS Quarterly, Journal of MIS, Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, and more. His insights also feature in practitioner-focused publications like Harvard Business Review and European Management Journal. Dr. Jelassi’s extensive experience and leadership roles in academia, government, and industry make him a valuable contributor to UNESCO’s mission and global initiatives.

Edgar Whitley

Speaker Bio: Edgar Whitley is an associate professor in the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science.  He has a BSc (Econ) and PhD in Information Systems, both from the LSE.  He is the co–editor of Information Technology and People, Senior Editor for the Journal of Information Technology and the AIS Transactions of Replication Research.  He has served as research co-chair for the European Conference on Information Systems, track co-chair for the International Conference on Information Systems and was previously an associate editor for the European Journal of Information Systems and MIS Quarterly. Edgar was an advisory board member for the Ada Lovelace Institute’s Ryder review of Biometric Regulation and an expert advisor for a series of Ada Lovelace Institute reports on technological responses to COVID-19.  Edgar is co-chair of the Privacy and Consumer Advisory Group (PCAG) to the Government Digital Service and GOV.UK and a member of the Cabinet Office Digital Economy Act 2017 Debt and Fraud Information Sharing Review Board and the Cabinet Office Digital Economy Act 2017 Public Service Delivery Review Board. Edgar is an AIS distinguished member cum laude and a recipient of the 2021 AIS Impact award as well as an AIS ATLAS award (2021).  He received an AIS Community Service Award in 2017 and the AIS Sandra Slaughter Award, also in 2017.

Nancy Pouloudi

Speaker Bio: Athanasia (Nancy) Pouloudi is Professor of Information Systems Management in the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), Greece. She presently serves as Department Chair. Nancy holds a first degree in Informatics (AUEB) and an MSc and a PhD degree in Information Systems, both from the London School of Economics (UK). Her research focuses on organizational and social issues in IS adoption and implementation. Her recent work studies user post-adoption behavior (SIG Grounded Theory Methodology 2021 Best Paper Award Runner-Up) and the impact of cloud computing and the pandemic in the work and personal contexts of IS use. She has worked in a number of European Union funded projects on e-business, e-government, digital health and e-society, and is currently studying children’s digital maturity and gender equality in business schools. She serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Information & Management, IT for Development, Health Policy & Technology, and the International Journal of Society, Information, Communication and Ethics. She has formerly served as Senior Associate Editor at the European Journal of Information Systems and as Associate Editor at IT & People. She was Region 2 Representative on AIS Council (2010-2013) and regularly serves on the AIS Region 2 Board and the Executive Committee of the Mediterranean Conference on Information Systems (MCIS). Her service has been recognized by the 2016 AIS Sandra Slaughter Service Award and the 2020 AIS Technology Challenge Award.
