IE School of Architecture and Design first Spanish academic institution to be accredited in Singapore

In order to practice independently, architects in the city state require both academic and professional accreditation. Singapore has a rigorous system, with only two schools of architecture, the National University of Singapore and Singapore University of Technology and Design. Our graduates will have the same privileges as graduates from these two institutions.

After an in-depth visit and review by the Singapore Architects’ Board, IE School of Architecture and Design’s Bachelor and Master in Architecture degrees have been granted accreditation . “This is just a step in a larger campaign underway for securing professional accreditation for our program around the world,” says David Goodman, director of Architecture Studies at IE. “This allows our students to access the profession in one of the world’s most vibrant economies and with a really innovative construction sector design,” he adds

Elisa Meléndez, Director of International Development at IE University, highlights how this accreditation has reinforced IE University’s commitment to meet the needs and expectations of our students. "With more than 130 nationalities on campus, our programs look for content and career development globally", she explains. "Being awarded with academic accreditation in Singapore is extremely interesting for students in many different regions who see themselves working at the highest international level", she adds.

Singapore architecture has a strong focus on sustainability, with many examples of vegetative landscapes being introduced into high-rise buildings, in addition to large autochthonous firms such as DP Architects, and international firms such as Aecom, Aedas, or HKS which all have all have offices in Singapore, there are well known projects by internationally acclaimed architectural firms such as Ingenhoven Architects, Foster + Partners, or Un Studio. All of them, have understood the essence of a young city state, with a colonial past pushing through, a city which has become a sustainable global reference.
