The Provost

Manuel Muñiz

MANUEL MUÑIZ is the Provost of IE University in Madrid and the Chair of the Board of Trustees of IE New York College.

Dr. Muñiz served as Dean of IE’s School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs (SPEGA) from 2017 to 2024. From June of 2023 to January of 2025 Dr. Muñiz served as President of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA).

From 2020 to 2021 Dr. Muñiz was State Secretary (Vice Minister) at the Spanish Foreign Ministry. In this capacity he led the Strategy and Foresight unit at the Ministry, the Economic Diplomacy team, and the Communications department, including the Office for Diplomatic Information.

He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Club of Madrid and a council member of the European Council on Foreign Relations. Lastly, Dr. Muñiz is a recipient of several awards and recognitions including the Grand Cross of Spain’s Order of Merit, the Trilateral Commission’s David Rockefeller Fellowship, the Atlantic Council’s Millennium Fellowship, and the Eisenhower Fellowship. Dr. Muniz holds a Master’s in public administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a DPhil (PhD) in International Relations from the University of Oxford.

AITZIBER ONAINDIA

Senior Coordinator

Aitziber Onaindia Riesco holds an Executive MBA from IE Business School, one of the world’s top academic institutions and the first school founded by IE in 1973.

She is the Senior Coordinator at IE University’s Provost’s Office. In this role, she plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of strategic meetings, critical protocol procedures, high-level event planning, business trips, partnerships, and agenda-setting efforts involving the IE Provost’s Office. She is responsible for the strategic planning and coordination of the Office of the Provost, overseeing strategy implementation and the day-to-day management of the Office. Her responsibilities include coordinating tasks among team members, ensuring the implementation of guidelines and policies, monitoring operations, and maintaining overall responsibility for the Office of the Provost.

Aitziber has 30 years of experience at IE, where she has held roles in the Admissions & Marketing Department, the IE School of Arts & Humanities, the IE School of International Relations, and, most recently, the IE School of Politics, Economics, and Global Affairs.

Jaime de Aguinaga

Vice Provost for Strategy and Development​

Jaime de Aguinaga assists IE University’s governing bodies in shaping and executing its medium- and long-term strategies. Additionally, Aguinaga is responsible for establishing and enhancing strategic partnerships, including those with the United Nations.

María Eugenia Marín

María Eugenia Marín

Vice Provost for Academic Partnerships and Alliances

María Eugenia focuses on strengthening the portfolio of academic partnerships across all IE schools and plays a key role in the expansion of academic global alliances. Marín has over 30 years of experience in international relations and is the former General Director of International Relations at IE University.

Irene Blázquez-Navarro​

Irene Blázquez-Navarro​

Director of IE University’s Center for the Governance of Change

Irene Blázquez-Navarro leads the applied research conducted at the Center for the Governance of Change, which studies the political, economic and societal implications of the current technological revolution and proposes solutions for overcoming its unwanted effects. Blázquez-Navarro is a legal scholar and international lawyer by training as well as a specialist in strategy, security, defense and technology.
