Ben van Berkel, appointed Design Thesis Chair
In this new phase, IE School of Architecture and Design has also announced the appointment of Ben Van Berkel as Design Thesis Chair. The School has signed an agreement with UNStudio, architectural design studio based in Amsterdam founded by Van Berkel, to design an academic framework for the Master of Architecture. This program, which will start in September 2023, combines the sophisticated profile required to work in the EU with a global, entrepreneurial, and sustainable approach.
“I am delighted to welcome Ben van Berkel and his team at UNStudio to our School. We are working together to redefine what it means to be a professional in the world of architecture and design. Ben van Berkel and UNStudio have been doing just that for over more than 35 years of practice, and I couldn’t imagine a more exciting partner for this endeavor,” said David Goodman. “UNStudio has been recently selected, jointly with b720 Arquitectos and Esteyco, to deliver the integral remodeling for Madrid-Chamartín train station, Europe's largest urban regeneration project. I am sure that their global experience leading such relevant projects will enrich our students’ journey,” he added.
