Who are We?
Prologue is a magazine based in Madrid that is concerned with the built environment. It uses and consults an array of disciplines that are often outside of the confines of architecture, allowing for a comprehensive analysis of forces that comprise our built world.
In addition to mapping the landscape of disciplines that comprise the built world, it is also interested in mapping the array of voices and registers that critique and contribute to it. It blurs the dichotomy of the high registers of academic writing and the emergent, rapidly evolving, and ubiquitous language being shaped on the internet.
It is run by a small team of dedicated students from the IE University School of Architecture and Design, and is always welcoming more voices and contributions. It continually tries to put the young and curious in conversation with the established and knowledgeable.
Its upcoming edition is titled ‘END +’ and is concerned with the general ambience of crisis in the age of climate catastrophe and rogue capitalism. It will feature voices as diverse as the Lebanese Architect Lina Gotmeh, the British artist James Bridle, among many students, architects, artists, designers and academics.

how we function
SPRING | EDITORIAL SEASON
1. Find new theme.
Looking into today’s discussions we propose a thought-provoking topic that can be explored through the eyes of architecture and design students.
2. Call for content.
Once the theme is picked out we open the space for different creators to contribute with their points of view on the topic.
3. Promote previous issue.
This is the time when we also advertise our previous work through different media (posts, events, posters…)
SUMMER | VISUAL SEASON
1. Design layouts.
For each piece that composes the magazine, we try to find a suitable way of representation that gives personality to each chapter while still keeping design integrity on the final outcome.
2. Put together issue.
Once all pieces are completed the editorial team designs the narrative putting all the entries in the best order possible.
3. Design cover.
The visual team is in charge of developing the cover that best embodies the theme.
FALL | LOGISTIC SEASON
1. Print issue.
After the magazine is digitally composed, the Logistic team contacts different printing shops to find the best match to produce the physical copies, testing samples of paper, color, and choosing the best results.
2. Launch event.
Once the first batches of copies are ready, the Launch event is organized to promote the new Issue, creating a space for discussion of the theme as well as giving space for networking opportunities.
3. Distribute issue.
Now the time for marketing and promoting the latest issues takes place, using all our different platforms to sell our copies.
WINTER | PROMOTION SEASON
1. Promote current issues.
At this time the team focuses on distributing the magazine, creating different events to promote the new issue.
2. Form new team.
As the team is composed of students, we have a cyclical team that renovates each year, as older students graduate or have bigger responsibilities with thesis or other personal projects, so we take advantage of our events to also meet prospective members to join Prologue.
3. Wrap year.
Once we reached our goals for the year we start planning what the next issue would be, having more meetings and preparing for the magazine takeover by the new team.
