I come from Montevideo, Uruguay. I would describe myself as passionate, kind and hard-working, and I try to apply dedication and consistency in everything I do. I completed my bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in agribusiness. My career aspirations lie in the field of agriculture—I would like to work either in regenerative agriculture or in a business involving agricultural products and services.

Working towards sustainable development in the agricultural sector

After developing a career in agribusiness, Alberto Bocking decided that the Master in International Development would be the perfect next step in his professional development.  He chose IE University for its commitment to sustainability, a value that has informed every step of his career. He brings with him three years of experience as an agricultural business developer and four in regenerative agriculture and entrepreneurship.

With his keen interest in cutting-edge topics related to sustainability, including carbon credits and regeneration markets, Alberto has found the Master in International Development to be a perfect fit for his interests. He highlights the program's excellence, particularly in courses related to the carbon credits market, climate change and environmental regulations. He has been able to leverage the knowledge that he is gaining from these courses, particularly from a sustainability perspective, and apply them directly to his work.

Alberto says that his time at IE University so far has been extremely positive. He admits that it was initially challenging for him to go back to studying after a break of several years, and also to manage the time pressures of the program. However, he is really enjoying the experience and relishes the opportunity to get as much as he can out of his program and apply his learnings in his professional life.

Alberto's advice to future students is to “really take advantage” of all the opportunities provided in the program. Delve into the world of sustainability, connect with knowledgeable professors and explore the vast potential for development. And, above all, “Enjoy it.”
