Christian Correa
I’m from a small town in North Carolina, USA, called Waxhaw. I would describe myself as passionate, inquisitive, thoughtful, and tenacious. Professionally, I am a policy, research, and communications professional with a specific interest in diversity, inclusion, equality, and justice. I’m deeply passionate about creating a more tolerant global society for marginalized populations. I’m studying at IE University thanks to the Eisenhower Global Scholars Program, which has chosen to partner with IE School of Global and Public Affairs. It’s the first time it has partnered with a university in Spain.

Despite being only 22, Christian is already an experienced leader, having managed projects as diverse as event planning for an LGBTQ think tank, to drafting D&I proposals for a multinational law firm, to digital content production for a government watchdog group. He has also served as Vice-Chair of the Rules & Judiciary committee of University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill’s undergraduate senate. It was there that he led a resolution to create the Latinx Center for Hispanic students.
Enrolled in the Master in International Relations as an Eisenhower Global Scholar, he says his focus will be “on the structural inequalities in US healthcare that have contributed to the disproportionately high rates of infection and deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic for African-Americans, Hispanics and other communities of color in the United States.”

There are some criterias to be considered for the prestigious Eisenhower Global Scholars Program, among which a student must provide essay responses, letters of recommendation, and a project proposal, as well as conducting a personal interview. Christian heard about the Scholarship through the IE admissions team, and felt it perfectly suited to his goals and needs. It allows him to continue learning in a structured environment, receive mentorship and resources, and allows him to focus on international diplomacy and public policy. He’s certain this will help shape his career for years to come, giving him the skills and tools to do consequential work with an expanded reach.
He has a simple piece of advice for any student considering applying for the Eisenhower Global Scholars Program. He believes genuine passion—as well as the ability to connect that passion to your desire to attend graduate school—are essential prerequisites.
During their academic year of study, or after the school year is completed, the Scholars will meet with Eisenhower Fellows. Eisenhower Global Scholars will experience the lifelong connection to a network of like-minded leaders. The Scholars may be offered optional summer internships in collaboration with the EF Global Network.
