Manuel Muñiz, Dean of IE School of Global & Public Affairs of IE University, new Secretary of State for Global Spain

Manuel Muñiz, Dean of IE School of Global & Public Affairs at IE University, has been appointed Secretary of State for Global Spain. Manuel Muñiz, an expert in innovation, disruption, political economy and global governance, has advised different governments and organizations such as the United Nations, the G20, the European Commission and the Department of National Security of Spain, among others.

He has reinvented IE School of Global & Public Affairs, diversifying its activity, attracting talent, expanding its international reach and establishing key strategic agreements with institutions such as the United Nations. His ability to simultaneously drive multiple projects with global impact and to combine a sophisticated series of proposals with successful implementation, has launched IE University into the sphere of important educational institutions with a focus on international studies and public policy,” says Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño, Executive President of IE University.

Expert in International Relations and Governance of Change

Manuel Muñiz, Dean of IE School of Global & Public Affairs of IE University for three years, also led the creation of the IE Center for the Governance of Change, dedicated to the study of the challenges posed by the acceleration of technological and social change in the public and private sectors.

Between 2015 and 2017, Manuel Muñiz directed the Program on Transatlantic Relations at Harvard University. Since 2017, he has been a Senior Associate at Harvard's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, as well as one of the promoters of its Project on Europe and the Transatlantic Relationship.

Throughout his career, Manuel Muñiz has advised governments and international organizations such as the United Nations, the G20, the European Commission and the Spanish National Security Council. Considered an international reference in his field, media such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, El País and Project Syndicate have highlighted his analysis and opinion in columns on global geopolitical issues.

Manuel Muñiz has a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government and a Doctorate in International Relations from the University of Oxford. He was also the Trilateral Commission's David Rockefeller Fellow and Millennium Fellow for the Atlantic Council.
