As Provost of IE, Manuel Muñiz will drive the university's international expansion and create and consolidate new strategic alliances.

IE University has announced that Manuel Muñiz will be returning to the institution as Provost, and as Dean of IE School of Global and Public Affairs, following a period of public service as State Secretary at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As Provost of IE, Manuel Muñiz will drive the university's international expansion and create and consolidate new strategic alliances. As a member of its senior governing bodies, he will help define the institution's medium and long-term strategy. IE University welcomes students every year from over 140 countries, has a diverse alumni network of 65,000 members, and keeps permanent offices in over 30 countries.

As Dean of IE School of Global and Public Affairs, Manuel Muñiz will work to strengthen research and teaching in the fields of public policy and global affairs. The School is part of APSIA, along with other leading European, American and Asian schools of global affairs, and has 1,100 students distributed across undergraduate and graduate programs in Economics, Trade, Politics, International Relations, and International Development.

Manuel Muñiz will also resume his responsibilities as Head of the Arts and Humanities Division, a transversal unit that ensures that the Humanities permeate IE University’s teaching and are part of the student experience. He will also be Co-Chair of the Center for the Governance of Change, a research center that studies the impact of technology on society.

Manuel Muñiz replaces Susana Malcorra as Dean of IE School of Global and Public Affairs. Malcorra, a former Foreign Minister of Argentina and Chef de Cabinet to the Executive Office at the UN, will continue her engagement with IE University in a senior advisory capacity.

“Susana Malcorra has made a decisive contribution as Dean of IE School of Global and Public Affairs, among other responsibilities, employing strategic vision, international focus and creating top-level projects that have positioned our institution as a world reference in the field of public policy and global governance,” said Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño, President of IE University.

“I am delighted to welcome back Manuel Muñiz to our institution, who, as Provost, will drive new international partnerships and promote IE University's strategic growth, and as Dean will strengthen our footprint in the field of International Relations.”
