Borja Santos Porras appointed as new Vice Dean of IE School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs
Borja Santos succeeds Ángel Alonso, who is assuming new responsibilities in the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government of Spain.
IE University is pleased to announce the appointment of Borja Santos Porras as the new Vice Dean of the School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs. In his new role, he will promote an ambitious agenda focused on strengthening the school's international prestige, enhancing the quality of its academic programs and activities, and fostering strategic projects and alliances.
Borja Santos Porras succeeds Ángel Alonso, who has played a fundamental role in the growth and consolidation of the school and is now assuming new responsibilities in the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government of Spain.

“I want to thank Angel Alonso for his years at IE and for leading the school so aptly. He leaves us to take up a pivotal position in the office of the Spanish Prime Minister. He will be dearly missed, but we can only celebrate his sense of public service and commitment to the common good," said Manuel Muñiz.
Over the past six years, Borja Santos has successfully managed undergraduate projects, including strengthening the Bachelor in International Relations and the Bachelor in Economics, and co-designing the new Bachelor in Political Science. He also improved the undergraduate student experience with numerous extracurricular initiatives, leading the school to win international education awards such as the QS Reimagine Education Award and the APSIA Intersection Award.
For the past two years, he has also held the role of Associate Vice Dean of Learning Innovation, developing pedagogical innovation initiatives, improving educational quality, and coordinating adjunct faculty.

Beyond his academic responsibilities, Borja Santos has a distinguished track record in international affairs and public policies. He has dedicated more than fifteen years to designing, implementing, and evaluating international policies and programs in Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Asia. His extensive experience spans various positions in the United Nations and multilateral organizations (WFP, UNDP, FAO, World Bank, and IDB), as well as in prestigious think tanks like the Center for International Development at Harvard University. Additionally, he has worked with different governments, including those of Spain, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, Peru, Ethiopia, and Belize.
Borja Santos obtained a Master in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) from the Harvard Kennedy School (2017), being a recipient of the prestigious international scholarship from the "La Caixa" Foundation. He also holds a Master's in International Relations, a Bachelor's and Master's in Telecommunications Engineering (Cum Laude), and has completed a Senior Management Program at IE University. Moreover, he completed professional piano studies at the Professional Conservatory of Music of Valladolid and has been an Acumen Fellow since 2021.
