On Monday, May 11th, the IE School of Global and Public Affairs had the pleasure of welcoming Camila Telles, CEO at FarmCOM, for a discussion regarding global food security, an important issue which currently concerns the world population.Vice Dean Angel Alonso Arroba and the Brazilian Ambassador to Spain, Orlando Leite Ribero, introduced the discussion. They pointed out how incidents such as the climate crisis or the war in Ukraine, have wide-ranging impacts on food security and crops world-wide.
In addition to being CEO of FarmCOM, Camila described herself also as a farmer, businesswoman, and a digital influencer. This was a perfect introduction to the continuation of her discussion, which included a selection of videos regarding the current agricultural situation in Brazil. From an explanation of the variety of biomes throughout Brazil, to interviews that she conducted with several local farmers and agricultural experts, in this partly Portuguese discussion, Camila was able to show the audience a different perspective on the individual efforts that many Brazilians take on to maintain and preserve Brazil’s valuable natural resources.
