WHAT IS THE IE SUSTAINABILITY DATATHON?
The IE Sustainability Datathon is a dynamic challenge designed to unite students, professionals and leaders in a collective effort to solve pressing sustainability issues through the power of data analytics and predictive modeling.
This event calls on participants from diverse disciplines to create breakthrough solutions that address real-world sustainability challenges presented by leading global companies.
Each year, participants are presented with a unique problem that requires innovative thinking and strategic application of data sciences.
For example, participants might be tasked with developing models to predict product demand to minimize waste or designing solutions to optimize resource use in industries like aviation or public utilities, reflecting our commitment to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
HOW DOES THE DATATHON WORK?
Spanning three weeks, the IE Sustainability Datathon is a journey of accelerating scientific advancement through collaboration and data-driven innovation.
The event starts with a welcome session where the challenge is introduced and participants are assigned mentors. These mentors are industry experts who guide the teams through the datathon, offering insights and expertise to help refine project ideas.
Throughout the event, participants attend targeted workshops led by seasoned professionals that equip them with specific skills and knowledge needed to tackle the challenge. At the same time, teams work collaboratively on their projects, applying data analytics and predictive modeling to devise solutions that not only compete for significant prizes but also demonstrate how tech and business acumen can address real-world problems.
