IE Launches Master in Software Engineering
The program marks a big step as IE becomes a major polytechnic in Europe.
IE School of Science and Technology announced the launch of its new Master's in Software Engineering (MSWE), starting in October 2024.
The program is designed for individuals who have a STEM background and aspire to design, develop, implement, and manage innovative software solutions.
According to the Dean of Graduate Programs at the IE School of Science and Technology, Guillermo de Haro, the new program merges software engineering with business through practical projects and the opportunity to specialize in their chosen field.
“This program represents a significant milestone for the future of the IE School of Science and Technology, as it paves the way to becoming the next polytechnic institution in Europe,” de Haro said. “Students will emerge as business-minded software development professionals equipped to thrive in a digital world.”
The 10-month English-language program will be held in person in Madrid, and is structured around the themes of Develop, Manage, and Venture. The program takes a holistic, end-to-end approach that emphasizes the entrepreneurial aspects of software engineering.
De Haro explained the program emphasizes how software engineering is developed with the AI tools available.
“There is a tipping point on how to develop and manage software. New AI technologies developed are changing the industry dramatically,” he said. “The program is focused on taking the students to the cutting Edge of Technology Development.”
Students will learn how to conceive and build software solutions, as well as how to test, launch, market, and manage them.
The program offers several specializations in which students can tailor their studies to align with their career goals or delve deeper, such as the topics of artificial intelligence, cloud & devOps or cybersecurity.
While this program is primarily designed for STEM profiles, preferably in Software Engineering and Computer Science, candidates with demonstrable experience working with programming languages, regardless of their academic background, also qualify for the program.
