IE School of Science and Technology Expands Global Vision for STEM Education in South Africa
IE School of Science and Technology strengthens partnerships and showcases its STEM vision in South Africa, fostering new connections in technology and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Rafif Srour Daher, Executive Vice Dean of IE School of Science and Technology, recently visited South Africa to share insights into the future of STEM education and to connect with students, professionals, and leaders in the region's growing tech and entrepreneurial communities. The trip, coordinated by the IE University South Africa Office, aimed to strengthen IE’s ties with a dynamic region rich in talent and innovation.
During her visit, Dr. Srour Daher delivered presentations on Artificial Intelligence and STEM education and introduced the unique, hands-on learning model of IE School of Science and Technology. "It was truly inspiring to see the level of engagement among participants," she remarked. “Their interest and enthusiasm in areas like technology, ethics, policy-development and sustainability has reaffirmed our mission to nurture forward-thinking leaders."
The initiative served as a platform to deepen IE's connections with potential undergraduate and graduate students from South Africa and explore partnerships with regional organisations. "The tech ecosystem here is robust and promising," Dr. Srour Daher noted, “and I’m excited to see the mutual benefits that partnerships in this region can bring.”
IE School of Science and Technology, renowned for its industry-connected, multidisciplinary approach, aims to drive breakthroughs in STEM fields and foster the next generation of entrepreneurs. This visit not only introduced IE’s innovative programs but also emphasised IE's commitment to global engagement and diversity.
Building on the success of her trip, Dr. Srour Daher plans to organise a series of follow-up sessions to continue exploring collaborative opportunities. These will include interactive discussions on trends and challenges in the tech and entrepreneurial ecosystems, with a focus on ethics, sustainability, and policy-making.
