OptiCrop, the first- place winning team, created a software development service focused on optimizing agricultural production through AI - driven solutions. Their core technology used computer vision to detect ripeness in real-time, improving harvest accuracy and reducing inefficiencies caused by climate change. Initially targeting the coffee industry, the team went beyond the technical brilliance of their solution and built real-world connections. Managing to get in touch with coffee makers from Colombia, interviewing them and receiving photos of coffee beans to test their model. However, OptiCrop is adaptable to various crops such as grapes, olives, and blueberries providing farmers with actionable insights to maximize yield and quantity.
The first-place team exemplified the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit that IE fosters among their students. The third installment of the Tech Venture Bootcamp showcased the collision of unique perspectives to push boundaries and accelerate scientific advancement; equipping students with the knowledge and skills to excel in the fast-evolving landscape of technology and entrepreneurship.
