IE Sci Tech Students Travel to Berlin for Global Immersion Week
The one-week program brought together students with top industry and tech leaders.
For the second year in a row, a group of students from IE School of Science and Technology traveled to Berlin to visit top tech companies. This year’s trip included site visits to Tesla and N26, as well as behind-the-scenes sessions with executives from Microsoft, Amazon, Physikit and other companies to network with professionals and discuss the latest tech trends.
A total of 39 students from the Master in Business Analytics and Big Data (MBD), along with the Master in Computer Science and Business Technology (MCSBT) joined the program and explored business opportunities in the city.
Natalia Clark, MBD student said that presenting use cases for Physikit stood out as a key takeaway.
“During the Berlin Global Immersion Week, we had the chance to brainstorm and present use cases for one of the companies, Physikit, that works with at-home blood testing,” she explained. “While it was a great opportunity to network with peers, it was also an excellent opportunity to understand the process of entrepreneurship and present a real use case to a company that could develop our ideas further.”
Participants met with Paulina Groth, Master in Digital Business and Innovation (MDBI) alumna, along with Homer Lin Dong, Executive MBA alumus, sharing industry insights from each of their work at Boston Consulting Group and Amazon respectively.
Marta Revilla, IE Sci-Tech’s program coordinator accompanied the students and applauded their networking experience with the experts of the different companies.
“An amazing and enriching opportunity to expand your network, share time and experiences with your classmates while getting valuable insights from professionals of the industry,” she said.
Alum of both the MDBI and MBA, Alvaro Balestrini emphasized the importance of customizing one’s education during the students’ Tesla visit, where he works as Senior HR Business Partner.
IE School of Science and Technology offers a range of top-drawer academic and corporate alliances worldwide, aimed at offering students hands-on-opportunities in science and technologies. Last year, IE Sci-Tech partnered with the UC Berkeley’s Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology.
“Networking is one of the most important pieces to the professional world. This week was fruitful to help achieve my goal of landing a job in Europe after my master’s degree,” Clark said.
