What do you think distinguishes a strong candidate for your company?  

A strong candidate for the programs I recruit for (All Early Careers Programs at Booking.com) would be someone who is very self-aware, has a curious mindset always looking to innovate and explore. The graduate programs we have are all tech focused so the ideal candidates would be passionate about technology.

How regularly do you hire Science and Tech students or alumni from IE? 

We recruit yearly, publishing our roles in December. We join virtual presentations to meet IE students once a year.

What would you say is the most significant trend in the tech job market right now? 

I feel candidates are looking for companies that can enable them to grow. It is important to have a clear development path with a lot of flexibility. This is why with our programs; we have designed them for career growth and we have a hybrid work environment.

Please give three tips on how students should best approach recruiters to be most successful.

Firstly, understand if you need to approach a recruiter or if you can talk to alumni inside the company. 1. Have a job vacancy in mind before approaching a recruiter. Normally tech companies have big recruiting teams and they are specialized so it’s important to understand who to reach out to. 2. Have specific questions, don’t just send your CV.  3. Understand that due to compliance you need to apply via the appropriate channels.
