What do you think distinguishes a strong candidate for your company?
Everyone can be a strong candidate for BMC. At BMC, we are strong believers that collective thinking mindset as well as hiring people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life is what makes us so special. We are always looking for curious, passionate, driven and kind individuals who are able to live and breathe our company values.
How regularly do you hire Science and Tech students or alumni from IE?
BMC and IE University, have built some very strong relationships within the last couple of years and we feel privileged to partner with such a prestigious organization. We have already hired several students and alumni through different avenues: internships, recently graduated individuals but also hiring IE alumni from different promotions dates. One common trend is the quality, motivations of the people we have hired, and we are looking forward to many more years of successful partnership.
What would you say is the most significant trend in the tech job market right now?
The main trend I see is that it’s important to pick a company that is a human size organization. BMC Software is a 40-year old stable multinational that will bring you the security, the tools and the resources that you need, as well as being able to invest the right amount in our cutting edge technologies. But we are also about 6,500 employees and that size allows us to all know each other, have a lot of fun and be recognized for our work, who we are and the impact that each of us has the opportunity to make at BMC.
Please give three tips on how students should best approach recruiters to be most successful
- Be your authentic self – ALWAYS! When searching or interviewing for a new opportunity, take the time to really identify what’s important to you and what are your drivers, do not feel shy to articulate them.
- Qualify your opportunities – You shouldn’t get any surprises when joining a company, make sure you use the interview process to ensure the organisation is the right one for you. (It is a two way process!)
- Although BMC is focusing on its ADE framework and Automation journey, we do not forget to provide everyone (customers, partners, employees) with a personable / inclusive experience – Find a company that will appreciate you for who you are!
