NO NEED TO APPLY FOR STUDENT VISA

As an EU citizen, you will not need to apply for a Student Visa. However, you are legally required to register with Spanish Authorities within the first 90 days of your arrival in Spain. You will have to complete a two-step process in order to obtain your European NIE Card (Certificate of Registration).

The European NIE Card is valid for 5 years and the Spanish Social Security will request it if you find a job in Spain, whether it is an internship or a full time offer.

HOW DO I GET MY CARD

To obtain your European NIE Card, you must first register your address at City Hall. This will enable you to book an appointment to apply for your card. You should receive it on the spot.

Once the academic year begins, our team will guide you through the process, providing you with full instructions and the list of required documents.

Health Insurance

All IE students must hold full health insurance coverage in the event of illness or accident during your stay in Spain.

European students may apply for the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to enjoy free access to Spain’s public healthcare system as long as you hold a European passport and have a legal residence in a European country. Please bear in mind you must apply in the European country where you legally reside prior to arriving in Spain. You cannot apply for this card from Spain.

We highly recommend that students covered by international health insurance providers research all procedures, requirements, and limitations of their insurance policy.

EU students that would rather be covered by a private health insurance, our department has special agreements with Spanish Health Insurance providers: Adeslas, Cigna, Sanitas. All three offer full coverage policies with special prices for IE students.
